The monographic study by art historian Jiří Šetlík on sculptor Otto Gutfreund captures the dramatic story of Gutfreund's creative maturation towards the heroic stage of Cubism, which he abandoned in the early 1920s after his return to Prague in favour of the idea of art that was to serve the newly founded republic.
